Diversified Communications Solutions Inc. Nominated for Community Involvement Award
Diversified Communications Solutions Inc., a leader in unified communications, announced today that the company has been nominated for the Nevada Business Journal's "Don't Forget to Share" Award. The award celebrates companies who embody the entrepreneurial spirit of America's family owned businesses and share their success with the community. The award was introduced in order to promote philanthropy and recognize community involvement among businesses statewide. The nominees are giving back in a wide number of ways. Whether by donating their time, money or simply educating the community on current events in the business world.
The Nevada Business Journal conducted an interview with Cheri Hickman, President of Diversified Communications. During the interview, Hickman explained the company's background and how its leadership has positively impacted the community over the years. "Since it's inception, Diversified Communications has always placed a great deal of importance on giving back to the community. However, the biggest turning point was in 1996, when we began to actively promote the company by participating in various networking groups. We stumbled across many different community service areas and we knew we could make a difference so we decided to take advantage of those opportunities," asserted Hickman. "We don't 'give back' for any reason other than to 'give back' but coincidentally business always seems to pick up when we take the time to help the community. Everyone is busy trying to further their own careers, but with so many worthy organizations in our own backyard, I encourage business owners to make the extra effort and get involved with those around you. It's worth it on several levels," Hickman continued.
Hickman is a big supporter of Block Kids and CAD Drafting for high school students through her association with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). Additionally she participates in the Santa Run and Opportunity Village Magical Forest every year. She has also participated in Santa Clothes through Rotary. Another organization she has participated in is Choices and PayBack, which supports several local schools.
In addition, IP video conferencing is a phenomenal technology that has recently experienced significant advancements making its adoption cost effective for small to mid-sized businesses. As the costs of both video conferencing and high speed Internet access continue to fall, video conferencing systems are being used more extensively than ever. IP video conferencing eliminates the need for many traditional face-to-face meetings. This not only impacts energy but also reduces travel costs and employee time associated with long business trips. Furthermore, communications manufacturers are including video monitors in office phones so on the fly meetings occur through ease of use and immediacy.
"Companies like Diversified Communications are few and far between," commented Dale Johnson, CEO of Technology Assurance Group, an international organization of leading unified communications providers representing close to $350 million in products and services. "Their substantial level of community involvement says quite a lot about the character of the people within this organization. If they treat the community with this level of respect, I can only imagine how much appreciation they show their customers. Needless to say, we're proud to be associated with them."
